The inner struggle of the artist in creating a work of art, the process of creating an art piece, the medium, the form and colours used in the work, where it is exhibited, how it is viewed etc. are different stages of constructing and perceiving the meaning of an artwork. When the piece of artwork is separated from the world of the artist it takes a life of its own. It endures time, encounters human culture and mindsets and is open to interpretation and vision. People look at an artwork from the springboard of their upbringing, ethnic-cultural context and education. It may not be in no way connected to the intention of the artist at the process of creating the artwork.
Great art always points to something else that can not be experienced by the ordinary encounter of reality. We can say that art is transcendent. It points to something beyond itself and the one who made it. It goes beyond or above the range of normal or physical human experience
